Music Intent
At St Anne’s, music is designed to engage and inspire all children to develop a love of a range of music. We aim to increase self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement through our curriculum. Music encourages children to develop ownership of their performance skills, listening skills, and to be able to review and evaluate music across a range of genres.
Our values link to the core of music in that we encompass independence through celebrating individuality and creativity but also, we grow to become team players who create, compose and perform together. Throughout school, all children will have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and learn to sing and use their voices in order to have the opportunity to progress to the next level of musical excellence.
At St Anne’s we follow the New Model Curriculum Scheme from Charanga. The curriculum enables our children to learn, practise and develop key skills which are repeated each year in order to create confident, expressive musicians. Children explore the inter-related elements of music including: dynamics, tempo, pitch, duration, structure, texture and timbre.
Each term, every class will have the opportunity to develop their confidence and performance skills by performing what they’ve learnt in front of other classes and parents during our ‘Song from Every Class’ assembly.
Each week, Tameside Music Service deliver a 50 minute instrument lesson to Year 4 who are currently learning to play the keyboard. At the end of each term, they showcase their new skills to children and parents.

Music Lessons
Music lessons are available during school time for those children who wish to progress vocally or with an instrument on an individual or group basis.
