Things to remember…

This half-term, PE will be on Thursday and Friday. PE kits should be worn to school on these days.

Children will bring home two reading books from school each week, please spend some time listening to them read and ask questions about the book. Spellings are sent home on a Friday for a test the following Friday.  Homework will also be sent home every Friday and is due back in school the following Thursday.

What will we be doing this half-term?

Our topic this half-term is called ‘Childhood’. We will learn about and explore artefacts to help us understand childhood in the past and how childhood has changed over time. We will explore the six stages of life and explore timelines. Everyday life in the 1950s will be explored, including shopping, transport, family life and childhood. We will also learn about the significance of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953 by studying photographs and online sources.

In English, we will read ‘Lost in the Toy Museum’ and we will write our own stories by creating our own characters, setting and ending to the story!

In phonics we will be looking at phase 4 which incorporates all sounds learnt up to now.

In Maths, we will focus on subtraction and fact families, shape, comparing groups and numbers and numbers to 20.

Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions
